Description: I am going out on a limb with this vintage sterling silver overlay belt buckle and calling it a piece by famed award winning HOPI artisan Philip Sekaquaptewa or at the very least a member of his family.. Number one it bears an early HOPICRAFT hallmark used by the artist, is extremely heavy gauge sterling overlay at 59 grams and also has his characteristic detailed chiseled pattern on the bottom surface. Plus I spotted a listed concho belt by this artist with a very similar design. The design on the front is the HOPI Sun Face. The flat buckle measures 3 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high by 2 mm thick and will accommodate a 1 1/4 inch belt. It is on a supple black leather belt 31 inches to 35 inches which is in very good condition. The belt can be easily changed if desired by means of two screws. . Plenty of the usual surface scratches from being worn and loved, but to be expected and not a distraction. In my opinion and after much research, this is a special and rare find.
