Description: You are buying an A4 modern print of the vintage pattern and not the finished item. THIS PATTERN WILL COME TO YOU AS A COVER AND 1 SHEET OF INSTRUCTIONS. This is a super 1930s straight froward to knit (with some experience) dog coat especially suitable for the sighthound with their deep chests (see 'Jack' the whippet in the photo!). Available in a single size (see below) it was originally knitted in "Viyella" 3-ply yarn which is sadly now long discontinued using three No.13 needles. However, you may wish to knit this coat in a modern 4-ply as vintage yarns were heavier than modern, but work a tension square to see if a change of needles is needed to obtain the tension stipulated in the pattern. The coat is knitted in two colours and fastens round the neck and girth with knitted straps drawn through buckles. The main body of the coat is in stocking stitch, borders and stripe in garter-stitch and straps in moss stitch, which helps the straps not to 'curl'. An excellent coat in every way, with buckles being available from the haberdashery sellers on ebay. Regards buckle size, a 'No.13' buckle was originally used and I do not know what the metric equivalent will be, but knit your strap and take sizing advise from your chosen stockist.Remember when measuring your dog, measure round the widest point of the chest.
