Description: Soviet Russian USSR Order of the Red Star, low 900 thousand serial number range, awarded in 1944 to Major-General Ignaty Mikhailovich Matveev. At the time of awarding, Matveev was a Guards Lt.-Colonel and Chief of Staff of the 46th Guards Rifle Division. (Read about the division's excellent combat record on wiki.) In the 1950s, he was Commander of the 74th Mechanized Division. Scarce WWII award to a General!Matveev’s combat awards included:- the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class- the Order of the Red Star- two Orders of the Red BannerIn addition to the present Red Star, he also earned an Order of the Red Banner and Order of Lenin for length of service.
