showy wood bodied slitter or router plane w/ V shaped iron & adjustable fence

Description: You are bidding on one wood bodied slitter plane or router plane as pictured.It is not marked.I bought this from a friend in California. He believed that it came out of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, but I don't have any documentation of that. I've enjoyed it for several years, and now have decided to let someone else enjoy it! Overall length of the body is about 7-15/16", and width at the widest point is about 2-7/8" measured at the fence and at one end, and about 2-3/4" at the other end. The iron and the other hardware are steel, and the iron is secured with the wood wedge. The slitting iron is about 7/16" wide by about 2-7/16" in length, with the V shape ground on one side. The fence is adjustable, with about 3/4" of travel, although the slot could easily be elongated. The body and fence are made from the same wood, which has a very showy grain. The wedge appear to also be made from the same wood. The plane weighs 12.8 ounces on my postal scale. The finish on the plane is a bit splotchy or uneven in places, and there is an area under the fence that didn't get any finish coating.Condition is otherwise very good, with a few dings and scratches in the wood, and some light wear to the sole. The iron has a hint of rust, and would benefit from a light sharpening. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early.
