The nice thing about these sanders is that they use 1/4 of a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet of sandpaper. Simply fold once and cut, fold again and cut and you have four pieces of sandpaper to sand with. It also comes with a template "punch" to make the holes for suction, if you wish. I use these type sanders extensively in my workshop and at first, none were available with a standard fitting for a shop-vac. You had to use the little bag to capture all of that paint dust. Then I found the Dewalt brand with a fitting for my vacuum and have three of those. Now, these Rigid sanders have them and they cost half as much as the Dewalt sanders and they have the same torque and PRM's. Dave Update: I had an opportunity to use one of these Rigid sanders and they are indeed as powerful a full of torque as my Dewalts and Makita. I was very pleased at the performance vs cost metric.Also, both the Dewalt and Makita sanders have two deficiencies in common that this Rigid does not. 1.) They both have a rocker-type on-off switch on the top front. I seems I am constantly turning off the sander by accident when switching hands with the sander still on. The Rigid has a unique kind of hidden switch that requires the operator to want to turn it on or off. 2.) Both the Dewalt and the Makita have two release levers on either side that holds the bottom flap of the sandpaper down. The Rigid has one lever that operates both sides. Not a big deal but it shaves a bit of time and frustration off of the sandpaper change.
