Description: PHARMACY MUSEUM COURTYARD Watercolor 9 x 12 inch This is a new 2024 original watercolor painting of the tropical ambiance of the Pharmacy Museum Courtyard in the heart of the French Quarter! This courtyard hosts weddings and has all the quintessential elements of a traditional courtyard! This is a typical scene of New Orleans! HISTORY: The New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, located at 514 Charters Street, was founded in 1950. Since then, the museum has been acquiring, preserving and interpreting a vast collection of artifacts and resources documenting the history of pharmacy and medicine in the 19th and early to mid 20th centuries, focusing particularly on New Orleans and Louisiana. The building that the museum occupies is a historic landmark! This classic creole townhouse was constructed in 1822-1823, and served as the apothecary and residence of Louis J. Dulfilho, Jr., the first licensed pharmacist in the United States, until 1855. DETAILS: This artwork measures 9 x 12 inches and has a half inch border. It is signed. Kristi is also related to Clyde Connell, one of Louisiana's most famous female artists. Kristi developed an innate artistic ability from being raised in an artistic home, which had an art studio and library. Both of her parents obtained art degrees. Her father has placed (numerous times) in the top tenth percentile in state and federal duck stamp art contests, and her mother has sold work at a local gallery. Kristi studied art at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (NOAFA), and is also self-taught. She has created mosaics and sold her tropical jewelry at the annual Red River Revel, and many other local festivals. Presently, she has turned to painting, and has sold work both locally and nationally. She has exhibited at shows and galleries, including several group shows in northwest Caddo Parish, including Centenary College's Meadows Museum of Art and Centenary's Magale Library, Artspace in downtown Shreveport, Smith Mason Gallery, and Shreveport Trading Company. In December 2011, Kristi was awarded a visual arts grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), and became a Juried Roster Artist in 2012. In 2015, she was commissioned to create 29 paintings for the new University Medical Center of New Orleans. She is a member of Louisiana Artists Inc. Most of her work depicts the flavors, architecture, landscapes and culture of Louisiana and the South.
