Description: This is a scarce collectible and decorative piece made in the Art Deco era by the APT NY Co, a contemporary and competitor of Frankart. The designs produced by the two companies were so similar that Frankart sued Apt Novelty for copyright infringement, but the case was ultimately dismissed because of differences in the nude poses. This nude figurine is seated upon an architectural style plinth with a fluted column standing beside it. This base is cast in spelter, a white metal alloy popular for statues at the time, and painted dark brown to resemble old bronze. The conical part supporting the glass globe is not spelter, but painted steel. There are two (original) screws securing the globe. The lamp, including its textured, green glass globe, is complete and entirely original (except for new wiring) and intact. There are no cracks or breaks to the spelter or the glass. The lamp shows the expected loss of paint, but it still displays well and is ready to use. It's been rewired with a vintage style, brown cloth covered wire, and it works perfectly. I've elected to leave this lamp in its as-found condition, but it would be an easy repaint if you so chose. (standard base light bulb, not included) 13" tall Weighs 3 lbs.
