BRETT IS CREDITED WITH THE IDENTIFICATION AND SUCCESS OF JACK LONDON. THE HANDWRITTEN LETTER IS JSA AUTHENTICATED. JACK LONDON (1876-1915) HANDWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED, “Sincerely yours, Jack London”, 1 pg., 8.5 x 6, August 15, 1904, with his stamped “Jack London, 1216 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, Cal.” at the top, written to his publisher, “Brett” (George Platt Brett, Sr., at the American division of Macmillan Publishing), by the American novelist, journalist, and activist. The letter, in full: “Dear Mr. Brett: Yes, all right about [paying] royalty on export price of [Sea] Wolf to Australia. I’ll have finished proofs [of] “Sea Wolf” off to you in a couple of days.” He referring to the printing and publishing, proofs that are the preliminary versions of publications meant for review by authors, editors, and proofreaders. Jack London would continue to write and publish steadily; completing some 50 books of fiction and nonfiction in 17 years, and becoming the highest-paid writer in the United States at that time. It comes with a JSA Letter of Authenticity. It has great content and is in fair condition. We had professional conservation work done to remove some pressure sensitive tape and add a Japanese tissue backing.
