Description: Limoges Theodore Haviland New York 2 Dinner Plates 10 3/4" Rose Pink 1948-1956 Elegant Decorative Set of 2 DINNER PLATES 10 3/4"from Theodore Haviland New York, New York Smooth Rim w/ NO Trim, LARGE PINK ROSE w/Leaves & Stem, ROSE Pattern, circa 1948- 1956 DESCRIPTION: This set of 2 dinner plates was produced in 1948-1956 time period. The pattern consists of a spray with a large cabbage pink rose, green leaves and a thorny stem. The background color behind the rose is is a very light creamy white. This is on the Greylock mold that has the embossed laurel leaf pattern on the rim. The smooth rims is not trimmed in color. Theodore Haviland produced a pattern called Regents Park Rose and another called simply Rose. The only difference between the two patterns is the shape of the cups and serving pieces. (The rose is exactly the same on those two patterns.) This pattern is identified as Rose. Please check our eBay store for other items in this Rose pattern. CONDITION: While this set of 2 dinner plates is classified as used, the condition is excellent. There are very minor utensil scratches on the center of the plates. This needs to be viewed at just the right angle in bright light to see these. We find no nicks, chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The plates have a height of 3/4” with a diameter of 10 3/4". HISTORY/MARKS: The American-born David Haviland settled in Limoges, France in 1842 operating a porcelain exporting business to the USA. He purchased white ware from various factories and shipped it to his New York decorating studio. In 1847, he established a decorating studio in Limoges. He started producing porcelain in Limoges in 1865 and decorating it on site. His sons, Charles Edward and Theodore, continued the prosperous business after David’s death in 1879. Theodore left to establish his own firm in 1892 and was joined by his son, William, in 1903. In 1919, Theodore died and his firm passed on to his son. It remained in the Haviland family until 1972. The company known as Haviland Limoges is still in operation today. The Theodore Haviland "New York Made in America" red & black mark is mark T on the website havilandonline and was used 1937-1956. The Rose pattern was produced 1948-1957. This is dated circa 1948-1956. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
