Description: I’ve been in this business almost 40 years, I’ve never seen a mercury glass inkwell. This is double walled, the ink would go inside a glass well not in contact with the mercury. As you can see there is considerable flaking to the mercury, the inkwell itself has NO chips or damage. I think the lid might be pewter. It’s heavy glass, there is good wear pattern to the bottom. Measures 4 1/2 across the base and is 2 1/2 tall.
