Description: Species: Clypeasteroida indet. Formation: Unknown Locality: Morocco Age: Unknown A Single Moroccan Fossil Sand Dollar with Display Case. Sand Dollars are flat round marine animals related to Sea Urchins that first appeared 172 million years ago. Their shell, or exoskeleton, was made of tissue and calcite. The fossil formed when minerals replaced this shell. The flower-like pattern is made of tiny holes through which the Sand Dollar extended tube feet, like spines, to move along the sand. On the upper half of the Sand Dollar spines also served as gills. This one was discovered in Morocco. We do combine domestic shipping!
