Description: LIGHT ON LITTLE GRAVES. Philadelphia: American Sunday-School Union. 1848. 6" x 4" hardcover containing 144 pages. Full of poems and stories about the death of children and infants meant for the comfort of the bereaved, but many of these writings would be rather morbid to today's readers. Also found within are two separate poignant notations handwritten in pencil in the margins: "Recited at the funeral of little "Tina" by Rev. F. Horton, Aug 15, 1859" and alongside another poem is: "Recited by Rev. F. Horton at the funeral of our little Milton Howard, Aug. 19, 1859. There was both a smallpox and cholera epidemic going on in the US at that time and this family obviously lost two just days apart. Very decent condition!
