1960 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3

Description: 1960 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 1960 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 This was owned by Pyramid Sound Studios of Ithaca NY and used on many recordings throughout the years there. We don't exactly what recordings this tweed was used on, but Pyramid's clients include Joe Bonamassa, Gym Glass Heros, Testament, Anthrax, and many more. INSPECTED & RESTORED BY OUR AMP TECH Weight: 24 lbs Tech Notes: Speaker: Original Jensen P12R 12". Speaker Code 220930 (built 1959 30th week). Cone and Cap are in good health and functioning appropriately Capacitors: The original red .05 microfarad molded signal capacitors proved to be electrically leaking causing noise and distortion (the ugly kind) so all four were were replaced with the most period correct caps on hand, Fender molded and Vitamin Q types. Six of the carbon resistors had drifted from their original values and were replaced with selected resistors of the same vintage. Tubes: Original tubes have been replaced. Power matched and appropriately biased/inspected. Tube sockets/jacks were inspected and properly functioning with correct tension for holding tubes in place. Pots: Both volume pots were badly worn and too dirty/noisy to repair and were replaced with audio taper type for smoother control. Tone Control pot appears to the best of our knowledge to be original to the amp. Transformers: One original era transformer was replaced with era appropriate match (Marked 125A1A 606-943, 1959 43rd week of the year). And second was replaced with ToneClone FTDP Cab/Tolex: Original Cab/Tolex, except for the back cover/panel. Mojotone built a new one which we aged to match the current condition of the original tolex. Service Work on amp: All pots, sockets, jacks, and switches cleaned with Deoxit. All tubes health checked and inspected. Tube Bias checked All electronics were inspected and functioning within spec. All original caps checked for leakage and all are correctly functioning and within spec. Replaced 2 x bad volume pots. Original 2 prong power cable replaced with 3 prong with ground pin permanently soldered to chassis to ensure safety. The neutral to chassis capacitor was replaced with with a more reliable mylar type. The black anodized star washers were changed to chrome/nickel for improved contact and ground wires were run to the chassis for low noise assurance. Cosmetic Condition: Amp is in very good condition for it's age with plenty of wear and rips through the tolex. There is a also a good amount of wear on the control panel. This amp was missing it's back cover - Mojotone made us a new one which we aged appropriately to match the rest of the amp.
