Description: This auction is for an original booklet printed by the Cherry Valley Turnpike Association. It was most likely printed in mid to late 1926, as it mentions "For the motorist of 1927..." on the inside cover. An "Important Correction" paper label has been tipped in on the inside front cover announcing that since the booklet was published the NY State Bureau of Highways has discontinued designating the Cherry Valley Turnpike as State Route 7 and it is now considered as part of "U.S. Transcontinental Route 20" to conform with the United States System of Highways. (Checking the internet I found a mention that this was done on November 11, 1926, so this paper label would have been inserted about that time.) The booklet measures 8" x 8-3/4" and has 24 pages. The booklet has the history of the turnpike and info on Historic Towns Along the Turnpike. Some of the towns: Cazenovia, Morrisville, Bouckville, Hamilton, Madison, Sangerfield, Waterville, West Winfield, Richfield Springs, Warren, Cooperstown, Cherry Valley, Sharon Springs and Cobleskill. There is a 2 page map of the turnpike. The booklet is in good used condition - there is a 4" diagonal crease in the right corner of the booklet with a shiny spot along the crease, there is a smaller crease below it - "1927" is written in the upper right corner of the cover - there is some light dirt / light spots on the covers.
